The flights were canceled after a mid-April snowstorm Sunday dropped nearly seven inches of snow in the Chicago area, WLS reported. It is the snowiest April 14 on record, the television station reported.

As of Sunday evening, 1,000 flights had been canceled at O'Hare International Airport, and flights that did take off were delayed an average of 44 minutes, WMAQ reported.

At Midway Airport, 156 flights were canceled because of the snowy conditions, the television station reported.
