Ladder matches are often some of the best contests that we see from WWE these days, but the problem is this: they often come at a price.
According to the Wrestling Observer (subscription required), current U.S. champion Kevin Owens had to be helped to the back after the main event Money in the Bank ladder match on Sunday after he possibly injured his leg. While current word on the injury is scare, it is believed that the injury may have occurred during this spot where Sami Zayn threw Owens onto a ladder.
Owens landed almost directly on his hip and leg, and as you can tell from the ladder’s bent shape afterwards, that likely wasn’t a pleasant landing.
This is far from Owens’ first go in a ladder match, as he is one of the most experienced guys out there. He’s a guy that knows how to take a fall on a ladder, but even by most standards, this one looked like it hurt.
If Owens is hurt, it is still possible that he doesn’t miss any time on television because of the injury; there is no word yet on how severe the injury is, and Owens was able to do some spots later in the match that was eventually won by Baron Corbin.
Owens, who has been on the WWE main roster for over two years, has been one of the most successful stars during that time period. Owens is a one-time Universal Champion, two-time Intercontinental Champion, and two-time U.S. Champion.
